A dental crown is a restoration that looks like the top of a natural tooth and is placed over a damaged tooth to prevent decay and infection. Crowns protect the healthy parts of your teeth and strengthen the structure.
There are several materials available for dental crowns. We want you to have confidence in your smile so Northmount Dental Care offers white, metal-free crowns.
Dental crowns are often used to seal root canal treatments or when a tooth is too damaged or decayed for a regular filling, inlay or onlay to support the tooth's structure alone. Weak, cracked or misshapen teeth that cause you discomfort can also have dental crowns placed to reduce your pain.
At Northmount Dental Care, we focus on reducing your discomfort while you're here and after you leave.
Our staff will take care to gently numb your mouth before treatment begins. To prepare for a crown, the enamel is filed down to reshape the tooth and an iTero 3D scan is performed. A temporary crown is then placed over the tooth.
The 3D scan is uploaded to our lab, UNICE Dental Arts, where they create a custom crown that will fit perfectly over your tooth and match your bite. When the crown has been crafted, after a couple of weeks, our dentists will permanently cement it to your filed tooth and you'll be back to enjoying your healthy, complete smile!
