Improve the health, function and aesthetics of your teeth and smile

Do you suffer from radiating pain in your jaw or face? Do your jaw muscles stiffen or lock when you chew? Is there a painful pop or click in your jaw when you open and close your mouth? Are your teeth starting to chip, crack or wear due to a bad bite or grinding?

If you said yes, you're not alone and you may have a temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, or TMD. Though the discomfort can be intense, relief is possible and several treatment options are available. We will help you find an answer.

Dental crowns protect damaged teeth and reduce pain

A dental crown is a restoration that looks like the top of a natural tooth and is placed over a damaged tooth to prevent decay and infection. Crowns protect the healthy parts of your teeth and strengthen the structure.

There are several materials available for dental crowns. We want you to have confidence in your smile so Northmount Dental Care offers white, metal-free crowns.

Benefits of dental crowns

  • Support and protect damaged, weak or misshapen teeth

  • Improved comfort and ability to chew

  • Beautiful, natural appearance

  • Crowns can last up to 15 years

Dental crowns are often used to seal root canal treatments or when a tooth is too damaged or decayed for a regular filling, inlay or onlay to support the tooth's structure alone. Weak, cracked or misshapen teeth that cause you discomfort can also have dental crowns placed to reduce your pain.

Comfortable treatment for long-term restoration

At Northmount Dental Care, we focus on reducing your discomfort while you're here and after you leave.

Our staff will take care to gently numb your mouth before treatment begins. To prepare for a crown, the enamel is filed down to reshape the tooth and an iTero 3D scan is performed. A temporary crown is then placed over the tooth.

The 3D scan is uploaded to our lab, UNICE Dental Arts, where they create a custom crown that will fit perfectly over your tooth and match your bite. When the crown has been crafted, after a couple of weeks, our NW Calgary dentists will permanently cement it to your filed tooth and you'll be back to enjoying your healthy, complete smile!
